Minutes from the last meeting
December 19, 2007
• Der Fotoklub of Fredericksburg met at Photography 414 December 19, 2007. The meeting was called to order by Vice-President, Al Bein, at 7:02 pm.
• Walt Biddle was welcomed back to the meeting following colon surgery.
• Brief discussion about past year for club – now have 33 members total. Al expressed personal satisfaction with clubs turnout for the Hospice & established club logo now in use.
• Officer election ballots were distributed to those members who had not previously voted by email response & the election was completed by Lance with the following results: President – Dona Drew, Vice-President – Jim Heupel, Secretary – Karen Pooser, & Treasurer – Bob Grinslade.
• Cookies for the next meeting – Al Bein.
• Subject for next month is “Stop Action”.
• Annual Dinner will be on Friday, 2/22/08, at MaryJo & Bill’s house. It will be a BYOB event with discussion of the monetary contribution to the event tabled at this meeting pending discussion with MaryJo who was not present.
• Each member may submit up to 3 entries from the selection of previously shown works at the club meetings from 2007 for the annual competition. Entries are due at the 2/16/08 meeting & will be judged by Kathy Weigand. Images are to be no smaller than 8x10”, named, matted in white, & unsigned. Prizes are to be determined with the suggestion of annual dinner free as grand prize.
• Treasury report - $567.79 as of 11/3/07. Annual dues of $20/person or $30/couple will be due 1/08 at meetings or can give to Bob at Fbg Athletic Club on Tivydale Rd.
• Field Trip Upcoming – next trip scheduled for 1/5/08 at the Admiral Nimitz Museum from 9am-12pm.
• Field Trip Results – trip to Johnson City to capture Christmas lights experienced excellent weather, had a great meal, & wonderful opportunity for night photography.
• Website up – look for 2008 information online at www.derfotoklub.org.
• Walt Biddle gave brief presentation of near-sighted Christmas tree light results (post-operative experience) – suggested other members play with lights. Also expressed thanks for cards & well wishes received from members.
• Joe Walsh will be presenting a program on “Inspiration” the last weekend in 2/08 at the Benini Ranch “Arts Encounter” – it will be the same on both Sat. & Sun.
• 12/08 meeting subject recommended to be photos from field trips from previous year (12/07-12/08) to encourage field trip participation in members.
• Jim Fox initiated discussion in regard to club participation in displaying photographs at Hill Country Memorial Hospital per Dr. Lopez’s suggestion. More information to follow.
• Lance recommended rotation of current Hospice photos on a regular schedule changing out 1/3 of photos every month or 2 to be replaced with similar size by current photographer displayed to keep interest ongoing.
